 Ramsey Abarca Law Firm

What is microlitigation?

Microlitigation encompasses legal disputes and lawsuits involving claims of $100,000 or less.

Disputes between individuals and companies are part of the price of doing business today.  Many times these disputes are a significant business concern that can create stress for those involved and strain the limited resources of a microbusiness.

Often, microbusiness disputes will not generate the attorney fees necessary to warrant a traditional law firm to take the case. However,  if these claims have a defined value, e.g., less than $100,000, the work involved is mostly predictable. A law firm with an effective practice design can represent litigants for a fixed fee based on the value of the case.

Using Legal Project Management, I am able to price my microlitigation services at the beginning of an attorney-client engagement.

My price for handling a dispute or lawsuit will never exceed 40% of the value of the case. Learn more on the Services page.

Legal Project Management (LPM)

LPM is an emerging discipline in professional services.  Too often, the professions, including attorneys, are late to adopt business methodologies that can increase value to clients. But, clients are becoming more sophisticated and technological innovations are  currently revolutionizing the delivery of professional services.

I have adopted the principles of LPM because it is offers a collaborative approach to the attorney-client relationship.  LPM begins with a conversation between a client and lawyer that defines the scope of value for an engagement.  LPM requires that we discuss what you expect to achieve with a lawyer's help, and what resources, i.e., time and money, do you want to apply to the issue.

Once a client's value principles are determined, then an agreement as to the scope of work can be created that will address the legal issue presented.  A scope of work  identifies exactly what the lawyer is supposed accomplish for the client and under what deadlines and limitations.
